Okay, so “Rusty Joints” may not be the correct scientific verbiage for the condition, however, it does paint a picture. What I’m referring to is the “Wear and Tear” Arthritis commonly called Osteoarthritis. If you haven’t heard of this term, that’s okay, because there’s a lot more that describe essentially the same thing. Osteoarthrosis, Degenerative Joint Disease, Degenerative Disc Disease, Degenerative Arthritis, Subluxation Degeneration, and Spondylosis are several that spring forth in my mind. But let’s not get hung up on what to call it, instead, let’s focus on 1) what it is, 2) who’s at risk, 3) effective ways to manage it, and 4) why a chiropractor is writing this article.

It’s not uncommon — when I query someone who has come to my office, if they have any neck pain, headaches, or lower back pain —for them to say, “Yes but….”
“Yes, but… my neck pain is because I have a bad pillow.”
“Yes, but… my headaches are brought on by stress.”
“Yes, but… my lower back pain is because I drive a lot.”
And my response is, “That may be so, but….” (more…)

Subluxation (Sub•lux•a•tion). It’s what we chiropractors treat. We have been trained to detect them and are the most qualified at treating them. So just what is a subluxation — besides just another $25 word that we doctors came up with?

Ever wonder what sort of educational training your local chiropractor had to complete to hang his or her shingle out? Every once in while I’ll get this inquiry; however, I know more of my patients probably are just as curious.
Many people are surprised to find out that chiropractic education is every bit as comprehensive as is medical education.
